Network Files from Home with NetStorage
NetStorage allows you to upload and download files for editing from your Home drive (H:\ drive) or shared Novell drives with an Internet connected
computer via your web browser.
- You can rename, copy or move files and directories.
- Files must be downloaded or uploaded.
- Broadband connection is recommended.
Download the file you want to edit and save it to your computer hard drive. After editing, upload the file to your Home or shared Novell drive.
Login
Go to https://webf.uncc.edu and login with your NinerNET User Name and password.
Downloading a File

Find the file you want to download by navigating the drives and directories in the Folders pane on the left. |

Select the file you want to download in the right pane by clicking the file to place a check beside the file name and select File from the drop down menu. |

Select Download. |
| Step 4: |
Click Save, then select a directory on your computer hard drive. |
| Step 5: |
Depending on your browser, computer and the type of file, selecting Download may launch the application within your browser that is associated with the file. Save your changes and ensure that the file is saved in a place that you will remember. |
Download and Lock a File
This feature locks a downloaded file from a shared Novell directory. Other users’ access to the file is blocked until you have completed editing and
uploading to Novell.

Find the file you want to download and lock by navigating the drives and directories in the Folders pane on the left. |
| Step 2: |
Click to place a check beside the file you want to download and lock, then select File from the drop down menu. |
| Step 3: |
Select Download and Lock. |
| Step 4: |
Click Save, then select a directory on your computer hard drive. |
| Step 5: |
Edit the file and save the changes to your hard drive. Close the file. A Waiting for File window will remain until you are ready to upload the file. |

Click Browse to select the file. |
| Step 7: |
Click Finished to upload the file. |
| Step 8: |
After the upload is complete, select Cancel. |
Uploading a File
| Step 1: |
Open the folder where you want to place the file by double-clicking it in the Folders pane on the left. |

Select File, then Upload. |
| Step 3: |
Click Browse to select the file on your computer that you want to transfer to your Novell drive. |

Click Upload. |
Moving a File
| Step 1: |
Find the file you want to move by navigating the drives and directories in the Folders pane on the left. |

Place a check in the box beside the file name you want to move. |
| Step 3: |
Select File from the drop down menu. |
| Step 4: |
Select Move. |
| Step 5: |
Select the directory where you want to move the file. Click Edit, then Paste. |
Copying a File
| Step 1: |
Find the file you want to copy by navigating the drives and directories in the Folders pane on the left. |

Place a check in the box beside the file name you want to copy. |
| Step 3: |
Select File from the drop down menu. |
| Step 4: |
Select Copy. |
| Step 5: |
Select the directory where you want to copy the file. Click Edit, then Paste. |
Search for Files and Directories
| Step 1: |
Navigate to the drive or directory in the Folders pane. If you are searching for a directory, you must first select the drive where the directory is located. If you are searching for a file, you must first select the directory where the file is located. |

Type a keyword into the Filter box in the upper right hand corner and click the arrow to the right to begin the search. Use the asterisk (*) as a wildcard in your search if you don’t know the exact name or if the file or directory has a space in the name. |
Delete, Undelete and Purge
Deleting a file in NetStorage deletes it from the Novell network. However, deleted files can be viewed and undeleted.

Navigate to the file you want to delete from the Novell network. Place a check in the box beside
the file name and select File from the drop down menu, then Delete. A dialog box will appear to confirm the action. |

To view a list of deleted files in a chosen directory, select View, Show Deleted Files. Files that have been deleted are shown in red. |
| Step 3: |
To undelete a file, place a check beside the file name in red. Select File, Undelete. A dialog box will appear to confirm the action and the file will be restored to the Novell network. |
Purging a file in NetStorage permanently removes a deleted file from the Novell network.

To view a list of deleted files in a chosen directory, select View,
Show Deleted Files. Files that have been deleted are shown in red. |
| Step 2: |
To purge a deleted file, place a check beside the file name in red. Select File, Purge. A dialog box will appear to confirm that you want to permanently delete the file. Select OK. The file will be purged from the Novell network. |
Archive and Mail
The Archive and Mail features under the File menu are not active functions.
Logout
Logout by clicking on the Logout icon at the top of the page.
