Check Your Hard Drive for Errors

Periodically, it is a good idea to check your Local Hard Drive (C:) for disk errors. This will help keep your system running efficiently.


Check your local hard drive on Windows XP:

Step 1: From your Desktop, double-click My Computer.
Step 2: In the My Computer window, right-click the LOCAL DISK (C:) icon.
Step 3: Click Properties on the menu.
Step 4: In the LOCAL DISK (C:) Properties window, click the Tools tab on the top.
Step 5: In the Tools window, look for the Error Checking section. Click Check Now.
Step 6: A new window will appear, click the Start button. Upon completion, if no errors are found, you will get a Scan Complete message. Should Error Checking find any errors, please call the Help Center for assistance.
