Check Your Hard Drive for Errors
Periodically, it is a good idea to check your Local Hard Drive (C:) for disk errors. This will help keep your system running efficiently.
Check your local hard drive on Windows XP:

From your Desktop, double-click My Computer. |
| Step 2: |
In the My Computer window, right-click the LOCAL DISK (C:) icon. |
| Step 3: |
Click Properties on the menu. |
| Step 4: |
In the LOCAL DISK (C:) Properties window, click the Tools tab on the top. |
| Step 5: |
In the Tools window, look for the Error Checking section. Click Check Now. |
| Step 6: |
A new window will appear, click the Start button. Upon completion, if no errors are found, you will get a Scan Complete message. Should Error Checking find any errors, please call the Help Center for assistance. |
