Outlook Setup Instructions

UNC Charlotte’s official means of communication is email through Microsoft Outlook on the exchange server.  Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 provides a centralized location for accessing your email, calendars, contacts, meetings schedules, and other resources.  University email can be viewed on campus directly through Outlook 2003 or 2007 once your profile is setup on your campus computer.  You can also view your University email through Citrix and Outlook Web Access both on and off campus. 

Employee email accounts have an email quota set to 500 MB.  Quotas for individual emails is set to 30MB each including attachments.   

In order to setup your email account using Microsoft Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007 on campus; please follow the setup instructions below.

*Note: In order to use the exchange server settings at home you will need to have the Cisco VPN client installed on your home computer.


Outlook 2003 Setup

Step 1:

In the Control Panel double click the Mail icon.

Step 2: Click Show Profiles.
Step 3: Click Add... Click OK.
Step 4: Type a profile name (friendly name) if prompted.  Click OK.
Step 5: Click Add a new e-mail account and click Next.
Step 6: Select Microsoft Exchange and click Next.
Step 7:

Enter the Microsoft Exchange Server name: email.uncc.edu.
User Name = your account name.
Enter your username and Click Next

Step 8:

Enter the required login information:
The username will include the domain = unccharlotte-nt\account name.
Password = your NinerNET account password.
Click OK.

Step 9: Click Finish.
Step 10:

On the General Tab click Always use this profile.
Select your name from the drop down list if it is not already displayed.
Click OK.

Step 11: Exit the Control Panel and log into Outlook.


Outlook 2007 Setup

Step 1:

In the Control Panel double click the Mail icon.

Step 2: Click Show Profiles.
Step 3: Click Add.
Step 4: Type a profile name (friendly name) if prompted.  Click OK.
Step 5: Check the box for “Manually Configure” at the bottom of the screen and click Next.
Step 6: Select Microsoft Exchange and click Next.
Step 7:

Enter the Microsoft Exchange Server name: email.uncc.edu.
Uncheck “Use Cached Exchange Mode".
User Name = your account name.
Enter your username and Click Next.

Step 8:

Enter the required login information:
The username will include the domain name: unccharlotte-nt\account name.
Password = your NinerNET account password.
Click OK.

Step 9: Click Finish.
Step 10: Exit the Control Panel and log into Outlook.
