  • Specific Application Users
These users generally require at least one of the following:
Command line access to one or many systems

Oracle
OEM
Specific Banner applications that require non-web access
    Spreadsheet Budgeting

Connect to Banner Systems from Off Campus

Because of the sensitive nature of data residing in our systems, Banner may only be reached by securely connecting to the University via the Cisco VPN and then through the "firewall" and the Identity based access control system. UNC Charlotte has provided an Identity based access control system that will allow verified access to resources based on your NinerNET ID. To use this system you must have the Identity access driver installed on your computer.

Step 1: Installing the Cisco VPN Client

To begin the installation, insert CD into CD-ROM drive if you have the CD. Otherwise, login to the secure site https://connect2.uncc.edu/bannerapps and click Download Cisco VPN. Save the executable file to your desktop, then double-click to begin.

Choose Install Cisco VPN Client.

Choose Yes to disable the IPSec Policy Agent and click Next to continue.

Choose Yes to accept the Cisco license agreement and click Next to continue.

Choose Next to install into the default Program Folder destination.

Cisco Systems VPN Client is now installing.

When the VPN client has been successfully installed, choose Finish to reboot your PC and finish the installation process.

Step 2: Configuring the Cisco VPN Client
Login to the secure site https://connect2.uncc.edu/bannerapps
Click Download Cisco VPN Configuration File then click Save and save the file in your My Documents folder. After saving the file, log out of the bannerapps page.

Step 3: Starting the Cisco VPN Client

Click Start, Programs, Cisco Systems VPN Client, VPN Dialer

Under the Connection Entry drop down, choose Options, then Import Entry.
Click Open to import the .pcf file. When the import operation is complete, click OK.
Click Connect to connect with the UNCC connection entry.
Enter your NinerNET User Name and password. Click OK and you will now be securely connected to the campus network.

Install the TNT Identity Driver

Step 1: Installing the Identity Driver to a Remote Computer

*Note:

Before installing the Identity driver, please make sure you are connected to the University via Cisco VPN. Failing to connect will prohibit the Identity driver from properly registering upon completing its installation. This failure will prohibit access to protected Banner resources.

Once the access request is validated and the resources requiring access have been defined, the Identity driver will be released to the requestor(s) for installation. For remote access users, the Identity driver is delivered via secure server download.

Login to the secure site https://connect2.uncc.edu/bannerapps

Click Download TNT Identity, select Open and follow the install prompts.

Click Next on the Welcome screen.

Select I accept the license agreement and click Next.

Click Next on the User Information screen.

Click Next to accept the default destination folder.

Click Next to begin the installation.

Click Finish when the driver has been successfully installed. Once the driver is installed, you may be required to restart your PC. You are now ready to access the allowed Banner web application and server resources.

*Note:

Make sure that the User Name you use to login on your home computer is the same User Name that you use to login to the University network. If you do not do this, you will NOT be allowed to access protected Banner resources.
